Who is eligible to apply for USTAAR program support?

Any University of Miami student enrolled in a full-time program including undergraduate and graduate students as well as those in training positions such as postdoctoral associates, who have an original and independent idea or project are eligible to apply and be considered for the USTAAR awards.

What kinds of projects are appropriate for USTAAR?

Any ideas and projects from students and trainees are welcome! USTAAR program will fund the most creative and innovative ideas that have opportunities for commercialization.

Are there specific areas USTAAR will focus on?

USTAAR program welcomes applications from a broad range of topics with clear goals to create a commercial product or application. Innovative ideas in healthcare engineering, artificial intelligence & computing, and sustainability & resilience are strongly encouraged.

How much funding will USTAAR provide?

USTAAR aims to support up to 20 teams with initial funding of up to $10,000 per team. During a competitive pitch competition, top 5 teams will have an opportunity to receive up to $100,000 in addition for direct support of their projects.
